What to Expect
We are serious about Jesus, learning, and fun. We want to hear the Bible explained, praise our Savior, and make lifelong friends. We’ve been told we are a loving and kind body of believers. We feel that and hope you feel it too. We care for each other and enjoy being together. We bear each other’s burdens and strive to be as generous with each other as our Father is with us. We’re a family who always has room for one more.
We probably look a lot like your family, because we are family. We are a range of economic and social classes. Some are rich, some are poor, and some are in between. Some have advanced degrees. Some have none. Some live on farms in the country. Some live in the cities of Grand Rapids, Rockford, and Cedar Springs. We are intergenerational. Our senior citizens know our children and call them by name. We are normal people whose identity lies in Jesus.
Our worship service is the main event. People begin arriving thirty minutes before to reconnect with their friends and grab a seat. Our service begins with the Word. A leader calls us to worship and invites us to sing, which we do from our hearts. Our people really sing. We keep the volume down from the stage so the congregation can hear each other praise our Savior. After prayer and confession of sin and more singing, we hear a sermon that explains a Bible passage and applies it to our hearts, nearly always with the gospel reminder to rest in Jesus. After the benediction, we chat with our friends and make new ones before heading home.
We exist to be a caring church that grows engaged followers of Jesus. We look forward to welcoming you!
